There are rumors that Nikon will release the successor to the Nikon Z 6II (Z 6 III) in the first half of 2023. The image sensor will be a 30-33 megapixel CMOS image sensor, back-illuminated type. The image processing engine is a dual implementation of EXPEED7, and videos can be recorded at 4K60p without cropping. AF will be automatic subject recognition using AI deep learning technology, and the number of focusing points is expected to increase. The continuous shooting speed will also be increased, and the imaging sensitivity will be the same as the Z6II despite the increased pixel count. The image stabilization will be a 5-axis image stabilization using an in-camera sensor shift method, and is expected to have a higher effective number of steps than the Z 6II. The recording media will be dual slot, and will be CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II like the Z6II. In terms of specifications, it is expected to be a rival to the Sony α7IV.
