If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of the possibility of a chain stretch or jumpy chain link in the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
It can be a bit difficult to test as there are various pins on the connector and they all have different functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read around 1000 ohms when the sensor is at full operation. Look for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this part.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at maximum speed I noticed a massive drop in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, 3 were soaked with gazoline and the fourth one was dry. When I start the engine without sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each hole in the injector and the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th stay shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is in another place.
I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it runs fine with the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c, even if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is 0.
I'm not sure what to do. I think I've eliminated everything else. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please let me know! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump in the g28 gets a signal from the RPM sensor.
