Hello, this is Tachibana.

Actually, I went to the Sapporo Kita High School festival the other day.

I'd like to write about my impressions this time.

I went to the lantern procession on the first day and the class project on the third day.

As I wrote in my previous article, the lantern procession turns the area around the school into a pedestrian zone, and each class parades around carrying lanterns that they made themselves.

Due to the influence of the coronavirus, my generation was only able to parade in the first year, but this year, it was the first time in four years that they were able to do it, and there were a lot of spectators.

There are various opinions about the skill of the lanterns, so I won't go into that this time, but the lanterns of all the classes and the high school students were shining and very dazzling. I felt old.

The class project on the third day was also held for the first time in four years, and there were also a lot of general visitors.

From the standard haunted house to a casino and photo spots, there was a wide variety of stalls set up by first to third year students, and it was fun just to peek at them from the hallway.

There were long lines at every stall, regardless of grade, so I couldn't get into any of them and just walked around...

Behind the scenes, in the gymnasium, there were performances by the brass band, calligraphy club, light music club, and other clubs, as well as dance and stand-up comedy by volunteers, creating a "THE school festival" atmosphere, and I ended up enjoying that more.

This was my first time attending a school festival as a graduate, and I enjoyed it more than I expected.

Next year, unlike this year, there will be more students who have experience at school festivals, so I think the school festival will be even more upgraded. I definitely want to go again next year.

Also, the other day I went to cheer on the baseball game between Sapporo Kita High School and Sapporo Daiichi High School.

I was in the brass band, so I played as a helper through that connection.

It was exciting in many ways.

As the game was on a Sunday, cheering was voluntary and not compulsory, but many current students and teachers came, and the volume of the cheering was incredibly loud and powerful.

Unfortunately we lost, but the sense of unity of everyone cheering for Kita High at the stadium was great and I thought to myself, "It was so much fun! I'm so glad I came!"

When I was still a student, I wished I could have cheered with the whole school in uniform...
